Honour The Pause

  • Sow & Root Yoga & Well-Being Studio 2c Snuff Street Devizes, SN10 1DU Wiltshire (map)

The Winter Solstice marks the end of the shortest, darkest days and the beginning of new light, life and opportunities. The ultimate blending of yin and yang. It’s a time to pause, to indulge in deep restoration, set new intentions, and celebrate Mother Nature’s changes and our own.

In honour of this moving of seasons and reflective energy, our ‘queen of calm’ Kirsty will guide you through a variety of Yin and restorative asana to nurture your receptivity, intuition and inner tranquility. You will explore the art of “prop craft”, using a multitude of support to facilitate your body and your practice, enabling you to feel safe and held as you fall into the meditative power of long-held poses. A space led by your own inward listening, to be curious and creative.

A pause for festive tea, mince pies and a moment of contemplation on the year gone by and the year ahead before being invited to join a sharing circle. Students can choose to express as much or as little as they like, or simply listen and absorb.

To close, a guided yoga nidra, the practice of accessing the deep unconscious mind in the dream-like state between sleep and wakefulness.

Students are encouraged to bring anything that will give them extra comfort; a favourite bolster, eye pillow, an extra blanket, socks, anything that supports warm, sinking, cosy bliss. There will also be an opportunity for journaling so feel free to bring a notebook and a pen.

This is a time of stillness, to sit within ourselves and embrace introspection. May this solstice be a reminder to take rest and nourish, opening the possibility of new creation. Leave feeling relaxed and restored.
